    Join Sung Lee and other club members at the club apiary as we distribute harvested honey to members of the community garden. This is our opportunity to give them something back for their generosity in letting us host our hives on their property.

    We'll also have honey tasting: If you've ever wondered what distinguishes one honey from another and what to look for when you're tasting honey, Sung will educate you! This event is for existing ACBA members and Hayward Community Garden members only.

    Join us for a free hive inspection demonstration at the club apiary!

    Although everyone is welcome, this will be particularly useful if you’re new to beekeeping, or you want to ask questions and see how others handle bees. You’ll get some hands-on experience and talk about bees in a relaxing, welcoming environment. We’ll also learn how to do a sugar roll test for varroa mites, helping you keep on top of one of the most common problems new beekeepers face.

    New members, join us for a free breakfast event at the club apiary!

    This event is a way for new club members to meet others, hear about what the club can do to help you on your beekeeping journey, and take a look at the beehives in the club apiary (we'll open them up and do a brief inspection). We'll have coffee, juice, bagels and donuts for you.

    We'll also be giving away a MayBee Hives 10 Frame Complete Cedar Wood Beehive to one lucky new beekeeper (thanks to John Young for donating it).

    Pollinator garden work party

    Our next work day in the garden will be December 21, the Solstice.  Bring any plants that we can put in the ground, or any seeds you would like to sew.   All donations to the garden are welcomed.  We will also enjoy some cider and snacks and toast to the shortest day of the year.  It will be a light labor workday, and mostly enjoying the time outdoors, the change in the season, and each other’s company.  Heavy rain cancels.

    The rain is finally here, and time to make changes in the garden. We have had 5 yards of lightweight soil mix delivered, and need to spread it on the open beds, and lightly turn it in.  Bring: (if you can): Wheelbarrow, spading fork, garden rake, seeds you want to sow (wildflowers, natives, etc.), plants that are ready for planting, your positive attitude.
