Alameda County Fair 2026
DETAILS:
Club members: Volunteer to staff the ACBA tent at the Alameda County Fair! The exhibit mostly explains itself, so it’s okay for any member of the club to volunteer as long as you have at least some beekeeping experience.
Our booth will be outside in an outdoor tent (there will be shade, but no air conditioning — we encourage volunteers to take breaks in the air-conditioned buildings). We're also putting on two beekeeping demonstrations outdoors every day.
You can either sign up for just a shift in the booth, or a shift in the booth plus a demonstration: it's easy and fun, and we'll give you an outline to follow.)
Volunteers get FREE full day entry and parking pass to the fair (it normally costs $20 for admission and $15 for parking). Come before your shift or stay after your shift to see the exhibits, the vendors, the midway, the FOOD.
- Hang out with, and learn from fellow beekeepers at the booth.
- Inspire the next generation of beekeepers.
- Hand out brochures.
- Help find the queen in the observation hive.
- Look after the live bee display.
Volunteer slots are 3 hours (there's a 30 minute overlap between shifts). Frequently asked questions:
- Can I sign up for more than one day? Yes! You can sign up for as many as you want!
- Can I staff the tent booth with a beekeeping friend? Yes! Just find a time with two empty slots below, and sign up for both of them. You’ll both get free admission and parking.
- If I do a demonstration, will there already be equipment there? Yes! We’ll have a smoker, etc. The only thing you’ll need to bring is a bee suit if you want to use that.
- Can you provide free tickets for someone coming with me who doesn't sign up for shift? Unfortunately not.
